Why Our Addiction Treatment Works For Many Clients

Drug addiction is a complex disease of the brain and quitting usually takes more

than good intentions or strong will power. The initial decision to take drugs is

voluntary for most people, but repeated drug use can lead to brain changes that

challenge an addicted person's self-control and interfere with their ability to resist

strong urges to take drugs or drink alcohol. These brain changes can be persistent,

which is why drug addiction is often considered a "relapsing" disease. While

treatment professionals boast "treatment works" the question is what is exactly

working? Our  program have residents set their goals daily while monitoring weekly progress. They develop specific skills to use to maintain longer sobriety. We provide a sufficient amount of detoxification  time along with structured skill practice.

Our Dual Treatment Approach in a Structured Setting

Research suggests that most treatment programs only offer the outpatient twelve step approach to recovery as aftercare for program graduates. While this well known model can be effective many residents need more insight to gain from its therapeutic value. The Twelve Step Facilitation (TSF) approach we use provides the therapeutic insight that makes  twelve step participation more meaningful in their recovery.

This knowledge helped provide the dual treatment philosophy behind the Ace Recovery for Men program--since addiction is a chronic relapsing condition and emotional and financial efforts can be exhausting. Thus, we have made any ongoing treatment efforts more accessible and affordable. We offer  Rational Living behavior therapy (CBT) along with 12 step facilitation (which may only have benefits when a person has sufficiently detoxed) before they return to the community. The beauty of our Rational Living therapy groups is that it not only teaches residents how to think through their present concerns but also how to use these skills to solve any problems that may come along in the future.

Rational Living therapy CBT teach men recovery skills to use during their Aftercare for any challenging problems.

It can be practiced along with the benefits of 12 step program participation to prevent relapse.
